Come and listen to the tale of the Wandering Minstrel.
He will take you on a journey back in time, through a medieval
manuscript, the Book of the Hours, and into a world where an evil Duke reigns. The
Minstrel's Tale is
a rich medieval tapestry, telling a story of princes and princesses, dragons and
unicorns, monks and nuns, hunters and peasants. There are musicians and
strolling players and a conflict between good and evil that shows how
difficulties may be met and overcome.
Enjoy the action as the characters in this manuscript come to life
giving you a taste of life in Europe a thousand years ago and engage in a fairy
tale that has all the ingredients of a good story: greed, magic, imagination,
and a happy ending.
As with last year's production, The Greatest Show on Earth: A Circus Story, teachers will be provided with a Handbook that links the play, through activities, to student outcome statements. This year, in addition, we are running a colouring-in competition with a book prize for the winners in two sections: the lower and upper primary school. Copies of the Unicorn to be coloured in, with the closing date for entry, will be available at the door.
Did you take part in any of these productions? Do you have any memories to share?
