It’s
early in the 17th Century and Spice Traders from Europe, in their
tiny ships, are looking for the magic passage that will take them across the
oceans to a fabled land of unrivalled riches at the edge of the earth. On an
outcrop of limestone rocks, just west of the Great Southern Land, Captain Quokka
prepares for a dangerous mission. He and his friends the Sea Lions, the Fairy
Penguins, an aged Turtle and a ditsy Dugong (on holiday from the North-East)
must face a fiendish enemy: the Pie-Rats of the North. These creatures under
their cruel leader, the Pie-Rat King, are bent on pillage and plunder and will
stop at nothing to gain the gold bullion that lies deep in the holds of the
Traders’ tiny ships. All that stands between them is our young hero who faces
his darkest hour as the Pie-Rats descend on the good ship, Courage.
This website was constructed during the creation of 'Captain Quokka's Adventures on the High Seas'. As a result, information, perspectives and photos are dispersed throughout this site. Available through this site, you can read the journals written by Val, Jodie and myself; as well as the Ed Pack for this production. Also at My Journal and the Notice Board, you can view photos from the 'Captain Quokka' process, and the final product (all links are listed below). There is, however, the exception of the following photos taken on the final dress rehearsal of the production. These photos were lost in my computer full of different files, and luckily recently found; therefore previously unseen. These pictures were taken by Melissa Donald on the final Week Thirteen rehearsal, Sunday night. Enjoy!
Did you take part in any of these productions? Do you have any memories to share?
