 Split (Light Blue)

Back Next

A Split postcard is similar to a General (Red)  postcard as it also provides teams with additional task information. The difference is a Split postcard instructs separate information for the driver and one for the passengers. Team drivers can be instructed to travel to the next location while at least one other team member will need to travel in an alternative way. Contestants could be asked to travel by foot, bike, train, boat or bus, however they are the only individual who can open the next envelope. Alternatively, the driver could be instructed to complete a task, and all other contestants will need to stay with the car. A Split postcard can also lead teams to a Clue (Yellow), True or False (Green), Bonus (Rose), a Final Destination Clue (Tan)  or a Final Location (Orange) postcard. The Split postcard may or may not display a photograph, however such an photo was taken within 3 metres of where the passenger(s) or the driver will have to travel to.

The following are some examples of a Split (Blue) clue from previous events to better illustrate the purpose of this postcard...

This Split clue leads teams on a 1.3 kilometre trek through King's Park. The postcard, in this example, was claimed by team's at the DNA Tower. The clue instructs the driver to take the team car to 'Western Power Parklands', and at least one passenger to walk. The postcard provides the exact location of the next clue, the 'Energy Ball' as well as providing a visual representation (pictured above) of the same location. The 'note' instructs the passenger to carry this postcard with them.

Again, this clue was accompanied by a previous Clue (Yellow) that lead teams to Hilton Park, in Hilton. The Split instructed the driver, in this example, to walk across 'Carrington Street on foot' to locate their next clue in a 'disused mailbox'. The picture (above) was taken just above the exact location where teams will find their clue, however it provides a clue to which mail box to look into. The cement plaque pictured above, is just in front of the correct box. As instructed by the postcard, the driver must walk back to their car and continue on from Hilton Park. In this example, the all team 'Passenger' must 'wait by the car'.

This detailed Split was claimed by teams at Gate One, at the Claremont Showgrounds. At this point, the postcard instructs the team's driver to travel to 'Casablanca Restaurant' in Mosman Park. The passenger, in this case is asked to travel on foot to the closest train station, buy a ticket and ride the train to 'Mosman Park'. The Passengers are told to 'cross Stirling Highway' and meet up with their driver in front of the same restaurant. The detail provided in the clue means that there is no accompanying photograph, as the postcard is obvious in it requirements.
