These postcards will be used to provide teams with information regarding the order of events. A General postcard may be used to indicate when The Chase has reached lunchtime, where to find the next Clue (Yellow), True or False (Green), Split (Blue) or Bonus (Rose), or used to provide additional information to a task. A General postcard will normally contain basic instructions (cryptic-free) to the next location, which may or may not be accompanied by a photograph. The photograph displayed was taken within 3 metres of where teams will find their next clues or where to begin their next task.
The following are some examples of a General (Red) clue from previous events to better illustrate the purpose of this postcard...
This basic postcard instructs teams exactly where to go. With the exception of a suburb name, the clue provides a destination park 'Hilton Park', a street name "Carrington' and an exact location; a 'Plaque'. The difficulty part arises as the plaque (pictured above) is small and hard to find, however teams have a photo of it. The 'PC' located on the bottom right hand corner is only a reference to the first Chase; the
This example of a General clue accompanied a Clue (Yellow), therefore travelling information was not included. In this case, the postcard provides information on how to enter the Willagee Maze (pictured above), and it informs teams how to complete the task correctly. The postcard also tell teams that if they 'fail to change colour or negotiate the maze correctly', they will required to restart the puzzle.
This General clue, in this example, was given to teams near the end of the the Winter Chase (2005). The detailed information on this postcard indicates to teams how they can claim victory. In this case, the postcard indicates that all team members must proceed 'on foot' to the pictured 'Wind Turbine' (above). The postcard also says that they must be the first with all five (5) Final Location (Orange) postcards. the 'note' also instructs teams that an 'Organiser' will remain with their car, as all team members will be required to travel to the Wind Turbine.
