         Final Destination Clue (Tan)

Back Next

A Final Destination Clue will hint at the surroundings around the final location of the chase. These clues can be claimed by locating the position of the Clue (Yellow), True or False (Green) or the successful completion of a Bonus (Rose) task. A Final Destination Clue consists of a cryptic word related to an aspect surrounding the final location. This can be either a word referring to the suburb, locality, area, street name, or a landmark. The photo on the postcard has been taken within 500 metres of the final location to provide a visual concept of the final destination. The words and pictures of a Final Destination Clue  and a Final Location (Orange) clue are similar, however the differences are vast. A Final Destination Clue provides clues to the destination surrounding the final location (up to 500 metres), but the Final Location only illustrates to the pictures (and the anagrammed word) within 3 metres of the 'finish line'.

The following Final Destination Clues were originally used in the Postcard Chase (Summer, 2005) and the Winter Chase (2005). The Destination for both was the Wind Turbine located at the near the 'Piney Lakes Environmental Education Centre'. The following postcards, in this example, are developing from obscure and simple, to blatant and obvious; namely the same order they transpired in the events.

'Oaky', in this clue, is a cryptic work connoting the name of the Piney Lakes Reserve. Other clues included 'Woody' suggesting Piney, 'Meres' or 'Ponds' connoting Lakes and 'Allocate' indicating Reserve. The photograph indicates the speed limit to teams, as well provides a basic, visual clue of the area. Additional clues at the basic level would included 'Blood sucker' for Leach Highway and 'Motor' or 'Engine' connoting the Wind Turbine. The 'PC' located on the bottom right hand corner of all of these Final Destination Clues is in reference to the first Chase; the Postcard Chase (Summer, 2005).

Normally after lunch, the clues written on the back of a postcard become more blatant, however the picture is still obscure. This clue is not a cryptic work, in fact 'Reserve' is the last word of the final destination. Other word clues at this level would include 'Highway' connoting Leach Highway, 'Lakes' indicating Piney Lakes and 'Wind' suggesting the Wind Turbine; which is also the final location for the event.

The last five or so Final Destination Clue are blatant terms that specifically connote the exact destination. Unlike 'Highway' or 'Reserve', these terms directly indicate some type of information about the end of the event. At this level, 'Leach' obviously indicates Leach Highway, 'Piney' for Piney Lakes, 'Turbine' connotes the Wind Turbine and 'Winthrop' communicates the suburb name. The photographs, in these cases, become a little more informative about the area, however will consistently remain semi-obscure.
