(Blocking Act Two, and more character development across the board)
We spent week 5 & 6 blocking and developing our characters….Paul lent some pretty interesting backgrounds to the characters in the English Country Garden. Still a bit vague I decided to watch “Lock, Stock & two smoking Barrels” to get an ‘andle on the lingo. Loved the movie and I’m really starting to get a grip on the persona I need to develop. Jenny had originally suggested “Vicky Pollard” at auditions and now having watched some of “Little Britain” I don’t feel as though it will be as effective as a tough cockney slapper! Ok….I know slapper’s not appropriate for Children’s Theatre but it helps to paint the Mind Picture. I’m a cat with a few nicks here and there on my ears because of some fights I’ve been in….. if it wasn’t for Children I’d have a cigarette but I’m thinking I can achieve the same look with gum – whether its bubble gum and I blow bubbles and crack it all the time, I’m not sure. I’m tough, hung out with Reynard a bit but find him a bit sappy…. However, when Miss Severity comes onto the scene and dominates his attention I’m not impressed, know I mean? I’m not ‘avin’ some banged up ole tart walkin’ round thinkin’ she’s better than me. If she doesn’t watch it I’ll ‘ave ‘er! (This is going to be fun!!!)
