CO-EEE!!!
I just want to say a big THANK YOU for making my last production an absolute
joy!!! Doing children's theatre for the 2nd time was the best thing that I could
have ever done in my last semester, although I sometimes wonder how I was crazy
enough to do it a 2nd time... haha! Especially on those mornings when it was
FREEZING and it didn't help that I was barefeet on the cold pavement... :p
But enough about me. It was such a blessing to have met each one of you and I'm
so glad we shared all those fun times together. I wish y'all good luck in your
exams (if you've got any) and all the best for the 2nd semester (if you're still
studying).
I've uploaded all the photos that I've taken throughout the past 2 weeks... a
record 365 photos!!! The most I've ever taken for a production that I was in...
well, it helps that the costumes and people were all so AWESOME!!! :)
Enjoy viewing and saving them onto your computer... take care and I hope to see
y'all in September! *hugz*

(Wednesday smiles from Sandie, Meredith and Ilona)
Anyway first and foremost i wana say that throughout this sem Children's
Theatre was the best ever unit that i enjoyed and gona miss the most! I met many
new frinds from all walks of life and interest! Btw this is my first sem in
murdoch, so this unit helped me alot to know everyone from everywhere! i learn
many things that i took for granted, like theatre it self..i never knew how much
it takes to perform a good quality show to people...Being a part of behind the
stage surely was an educational experince i ever had...I had sooo much fun and
learn alot during my set buidling workshop, the mushroom house, caravan,
toadstool at nexus...Well u guys saw the results!
From week 11, the experince was much more exciting becoz i had the whole unit
crew at nexus and it was a great chance to get to know my fellow mates, becoz
due to my workshop always at nexus i didnt have the chance to meet anyone
well..in fact i hardly knew anyone but the production crew...but it was soooo
good to meet everyone and work with them backstage for the past 3 weeks. I wish
we had longer moments to do so as i missed knowing them ealier during their
workshop! soo many people are soo talented! But of course working with Jason and
other 2 more fellow mates was great as well, Jason thought us alot about
building, it may look lil weird to ppl see how 2 gals were working like men
carrying tools and paint brushes, but hey...all we need is the passion and
interest and anyting is possible! i loved what i was doin...
I also met other crew such as the costume gals, prop gal, etc...Helped the
costume department abit..we also had some frinds from the cast crew and other
dept crew volunteered to help us..The more we voluntered we had the more fun it
was...We were all basically was helping each other! *FUN*
During the perfomance week,,,,AWESOME...i learn alot form Geoff!! I dun think i
wud able to do all my task well without Geoff..He though me alot on handling all
the task i handle during the play..Dry Ice machine, cables...wiring...paiting..I
must thank Geoff here!He helped alot during our set building workshop!Special
Thanks to all the crew who helped me during the play to move the sets! Steve,
Alexa.Kid,Tagen , cirscus crew, etc!! Backstage would not be smooth without
everyone's help..Thank u everyone!!

dressing room conversations and FOOOOOOOOD!!!

(Julian's journal this semester concludes with...) To finish this journal, I will leave you with a passage from Nellie McCaslin’s book, Creative Drama in the Classroom and Beyond that I feel sums up everything that I believe about Children’s Theatre:
“Theatregoing can be one of the richest experiences of a child’s life. With its aesthetic, educational, and social potential, a good play, well produced, can lead to appreciation of a great art form and add to knowledge and a deeper understanding of humankind.” (McCaslin, 2000: 345).
